[RL with Kratos: Amy and Ezra visit]
Jacky checked to make sure she had everything for today. The picnic basket she had made, with plenty of food for her, Amy, and Ezra since she knew Kratos would be unlikely to eat anything and she didn't want to make him feel too awkward. She made sure she had Benjy's leash, just in case. She doubted she would need it, though. Benjy had been behaving so well lately, and he seemed to behave even better when out in the open. He was so much like Jacky, sometimes. Loving the outdoors more than indoors. But who could fault him? The wilderness was always amazing.

Jacky was really grateful to Kratos, though. That he had agreed to meet with Amy and Ezra had surprised her. She knew he didn't like meeting people often, and she knew that he had agreed to this just for her. He was always sacrificing his feelings and doing things to make her happy. He treated her so well... she appreciated everything he did for her. Whether it was allowing Benjy to live with them or meeting her friends. She was grateful to him for trying.

She looked at Kratos when she was ready and smiled sweetly at him. She walked to where he was and reached up to kiss his cheek lightly. "Thank you, again. I'm ready when you are," She said to him.

As much as Kratos couldn't say he was really looking forward to meeting more of Jacky's friends, knowing how uncomfortable they usually made him whether they meant it or not, he knew that it would be best if he got it over with. One day he was bound to meet them. And besides it was a good opportunity to try and stop Amy from including him in this book... Really though, he was doing this for Jacky. It was true they shouldn't keep leaving Meltokio like this, for if something was to happen and they were caught off guard the consequences could be dire. But Jacky needed to keep contact with her friends, especially now... just in case. For all he knew this could be the last time she saw them.

He wasn't really sure how he felt about Benjy coming with them. He had definitely improved since they first took him in, but even so Kratos couldn't say he was particularly fond of the dog. Still, perhaps Benjy would prove a welcome distraction from any probing questions Kratos always worried Jacky's friends would start asking...

Any negative thoughts he was currently having were quickly forgotten as he felt Jacky kiss him on the cheek. He looked to her and noted her sweet smile. It always warmed him to see her like that. He nodded to her. "I'm ready... let's get moving."

Jacky reached up to touch Kratos' cheek gently as he let her know he was ready. She was really grateful to him. She would have to make it up to him later. They needed to do something alone, just the two of them. Especially without Benjy around. Whether or not Kratos became used to Benjy's presence, she still knew that he didn't particularly like Benjy.

Once Jacky made sure both of them were ready she called Benjy to her and took Kratos' hand in hers. She pulled out the buzzer and transported the three of them to an empty field in Boston, where she had agreed to meet Amy. It was better out here as well so that no one saw her and Kratos appear and disappear into thin air. The girls knew about worldhopping and such, but the rest of Boston didn't need to know.

Jacky let Benjy loose when they arrived. She watched him take off running through the field, barking cheerfully. She couldn't help but laugh. She let go of Kratos' hand reluctantly and began to set up the picnic as she waited for Amy and Ezra to arrive.

Her method of world-hopping was always strange. He was used to crossing to the original opposite world using a Rheaird, but to just press a button and appear somewhere else was surreal. Once they arrived in the field, Kratos watched Benjy as he ran off, enjoying his freedom. They would never have been able to let him loose out in the open in his own world. He would probably attract the attention of monsters.

He allowed Jacky to set up the picnic and remained where he was, just taking in the scenery and keeping an eye on Benjy to make sure he stayed out of trouble. Kratos wasn't really sure why he was bothering since he was Jacky's responsibility, but the least he could do was watch him while she concentrated on other things.

He was also keeping an eye out for anyone approaching, since they were expecting visitors. Jacky had said they were both respectable people, but really he didn't know quite what to expect of them.

Jacky laid out the blanket she had brought on the grass. Not that she minded the grass at all, but Amy being a fine lady and Ezra a man of the law Jacky thought they might appreciate not sitting on the grass. Once the blanket was laid out, Jacky began pulling out different foods she had prepared for the picnic, things she knew Amy and Ezra enjoyed. If it was food, Jacky would eat it. But high class people were particular sometimes, not that either of the two would ever complain, but she knew what they liked all the same.

After Jacky checked to make sure everything was prepared she looked up, trying to see if Amy and Ezra were anywhere near. Sure enough, they were. Leave it to Ezra to never be late. Jacky jumped up from the picnic and ran to where Amy was without a seconds hesitation. She threw her arms around the slightly bewildered girls. "Sister!" Jacky exclaimed.

Amy looked a little frazzled, but Jacky eccentrics always threw people off, no matter how well they new her. After a second she embraced Jacky back. "Its good to see you as well, Sister," She replied.

Jacky finally let go of Amy and went to stand next to Kratos. "Amy, Ezra. This is Kratos," She told them. Amy gave a curtsy in response.

"It is my pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kratos," She told him. Ezra held out his hand to Kratos.

Kratos watched Jacky and the two visitors as they exchanged greetings, feeling like the odd one out as usual. Not that he ever mingled well with the people in this world, being from a different one, but the people Jacky knew seemed to make him more uneasy than any strangers they might pass...

Being from a noble class background himself, Kratos was familiar with the behaviour of people like Amy but made no move to respond to her curtsy. As Ezra offered a hand he ignored it too. He didn't really mean to be rude but it was impossible for him to trust people so easily. He had to get to know them first.

"It's... nice to meet you too," he said quietly to both of them.

Jacky didn't fail to notice Kratos' behavior, but it was what she had expected from him. Thankfully, Benjy noticed the two newcomers and came to greet them as well, helping to break the awkwardness. Amy leaned down to pet Benjy as Ezra patted his head with the hand he had held out to Kratos. Jacky reached out and to squeeze Kratos' hand reassuringly while they were distracted. She knew it would make him feel awkward otherwise.

After Benjy became bored with the attention and ran off Jacky pulled Amy to sit next to her on the blanket. Ezra timidly followed suit. "I hope you two are hungry," Jacky said cheerfully. She missed Amy a lot sometimes. Amy was her first female friend since she had left the streets, her sister.

"We made sure not to eat before coming, but you didn't have to do this, Sister," Amy said. Both Amy and Ezra were timid sort of people, but Amy was more comfortable around Jacky.

"I did anyways. Kratos, come sit with us. I think you two will like what I've got," Jacky told them. She was sure not to make Kratos stand out too much. She didn't want to make him more uncomfortable than he already was.

Kratos welcomed the distraction. It seemed that Benjy was useful after all, and for once he was thankful that he was there. Jacky helped to reassure him too, although she really didn't need to. He would get used to them in his own time and make his own mind up about them.

When Jacky asked him to sit with them, he knew that he couldn't really refuse. He sat down hesitantly, still paying little attention to Amy and Ezra. He would have to be sure to eat what he was given for fear that they would think something was wrong with him. Although knowing Jacky, she would likely make up an excuse for him anyway... Still, he would rather things ran smoothly without either of them having to make up excuses, no matter how awkward Kratos felt around them.
